![]() The dLAN® 500 WiFi from devolo brings the future to your home. Literally within 30 seconds of plugging all three devices in the powerline network. The dLAN 500 WiFi Network Kit offers three powerline adaptors, one wired and two with WiFi access points and the setup is as effortless and simple as we have come to expect. Intelligent WiFi Move Technology provides even more freedom: Now, smartphones, tablets and laptops are automatically connected to the Internet – the best Wi-Fi reception in any room or floor automatically! And the compact and unobtrusive design can be integrated into any residential interior without looking out of place. The same goes with our first review from the highly regarded German manufacturer Devolo. ![]() An additional terminal device can be connected at any time (such as a Smart TV or game console) using the additional fast Ethernet connection. Smartphones, tablets and laptops have full-strength coverage right from the start without any problems. The integrated wireless LAN also provides complete Internet coverage to every nook and cranny. As a Powerline adapter, the dLAN® 500 WiFi uses internal power lines as a long cable, thereby bringing the Internet to any room. Including one-of-a-kind WiFi Move TechnologyĭLAN® 500 WiFi technology combines the latest technology and unobtrusive design with the best Internet connection. Finally, full-strength reception for smartphones and tablets Literally, you can stand right next to an AP but if the client is getting a "good enough" (in the clients view) service from an AP further away, it won't consider roaming.- The perfect combination: dLAN® powerline technology and Wi-Fi Note that it is "Big Wi-Fi Myth Number 2" that client devices are always "hunting for the best signal." They are not, some clients need the incumbent to get pretty grotty before they consider roaming. There's some subtleties to this which can be finessed for the N/AC protocols, but the channel plan illustrated will "give you a good start." For the 5Ghz waveband (if you have it) just choose channels that are different. There's various nuances to channel planning but in the 2.4GHz waveband, choose a channel plan from the set. SOHO kit doesn't "talk" to each other in any way to agree a channel plan, so with auto-tune left on, they can end up endlessly "dancing around" each other. If you do not have any older standard A/B/G clients you could disable those protocols, (in both devices) but it's not essential.įor optimum performance it would be best to ensure each cell is using differing radio channels (the cells will almost certainly be overlapping each other.) In SOHO I suggest people tune it themselves rather than relying on "auto" mechanisms. That's it.īy default most SOHO gear has all protocols (A/B/G/N/AC) turned on. Login to whatever admin tool the Devlo has and set the SSID name and passphrase to be the same as the Virgin. Make a note of the SSID name and passphrase of the Virgin Hub. I don't know Devlo, but fundamentally automatic Wi-Fi roaming is pretty easy to set up. I get excellent WiFi performance when I log onto the Devolo adaptors but I thought whole point of cloning was to create a single Network with a single sign in that allow me to seamlessly benefit from the boosted WiFi signal? ![]() However, having followed the installation guide (correctly I think), I still see two WiFi networks - Virgin & Devolo, and the signal strength of the Virgin WiFi is poor when standing next to the Devolo WiFi adaptor - both of which suggest to me I have not managed to setup the clone correctly. I expected the result to be that I would end up with a single WiFi network log in - that being my existing Virgin Media router log in - and that I would then benefit from boosted WiFi signal via the Devolo adaptors I have located in the parts of my property the Virgin Media router struggles to reach. Just bought Devolo Dlan 500 WiFi kit & trying to clone my Virgin Media WiFi router settings onto the WiFi adaptors by following the manufacturers installation guide.
